Associate Professor
Associate Professor Huade Guan is an academic at Flinders University, affiliated with the College of Science and Engineering and the National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training. He holds the rank of Associate Professor in Hydrology and leads the EcoH 2 Ome Research Group, focusing on ecohydrology, hydrometeorology, and urban climate dynamics. His research integrates field experiments, remote sensing, and mathematical modeling to address water resource challenges linked to climate change and environmental sustainability. Education: Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Science (Hydrology), New Mexico Tech (2005); M. Sci. in Geological Science (Groundwater), UT El Paso (2001); B. Sci. in Geochemistry, Peking University (1990). Roles: Chief Investigator at National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training; Degree Coordinator for Bachelor of Science (Environmental Science); Undergraduate/Postgraduate Teaching (ENVS2761, ENVS3731, ENVS8771). Research Interests: Terrestrial ecohydrology, hydrometeorology, mountain block hydrology, urban heat island mitigation, and applications of remote sensing/environmental tracers. Key projects include urban water management, groundwater-vegetation-atmosphere interactions, and carbon sequestration through ecological restoration. Recent grants include studies on urban flood mitigation, groundwater-dependent vegetation, and sustainable water management in Adelaide. He has supervised over 20 PhD students and maintains international collaborations through visiting scholars. Editorial Roles: Associate Editor of Journal of Hydrology (2015–present) and Frontiers in Climate, Ecology, and People (2021–present). Active in journal peer review across hydrology, ecohydrology, and climate sciences. Labs/Teams: Director of the Ecohydrology Research Laboratory; collaborates with global partners on interdisciplinary projects.
