Dr. John Paul Schroeppel serves as Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City. He holds dual leadership roles as both an academic faculty member and department administrator. His professional background includes: BS in Human Biology and Chemistry from the University of Kansas MD from University of Kansas School of Medicine Orthopedic Surgery Residency at University of Kansas Medical Center Sports Medicine Fellowship at TRIA Orthopedic Center Dr. Schroeppel specializes in arthroscopic management of hip, knee, and shoulder injuries with particular expertise in hip preservation surgery and complex knee reconstruction procedures. His clinical practice focuses on both professional athletes and everyday patients, serving as Head Team Orthopedic Surgeon for the Kansas City Chiefs and Assistant Team Physician for the Kansas City Royals, while also providing care for four area high schools. His research output centers on rehabilitation protocols following orthopedic procedures, with recent publications examining rotator cuff repairs, ankle ligament surgery, and ACL rehabilitation. His work demonstrates a consistent pattern of collaboration with colleagues including the Vopat brothers and other sports medicine specialists.
