Assistant Professor
Dr. Grażyna Świętochowska serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Film and Audiovisual Culture at the Faculty of Languages, University of Gdańsk since 2015. She concurrently holds the position of Editor-in-Chief for the peer-reviewed academic journal "Panoptikum" (ISSN 1730-7775), published by the university and indexed in CEEOL, PBN, BazHum, and Index Copernicus. Her academic credentials include: PhD in Humanities (Literary Studies) specializing in Film and Audiovisual Culture (University of Gdańsk, 2014) with dissertation "Czechoslovak New Wave as a Form of Cinematic Modernism" Master's in Polish Philology with Theater and Film Studies specialization (University of Gdańsk, 2002) Postgraduate studies in Project Management (Higher School of Banking in Gdańsk, 2013) CEU Summer University course "Screened Memories" (2016) Dr. Świętochowska's research critically examines Central and Eastern European cinema through theoretical frameworks including Deleuzian philosophy and memory studies . Her work bridges historical analysis of cinematic modernism with contemporary digital culture, particularly focusing on the Czechoslovak New Wave's narrative structures and visual language. She investigates how audiovisual media constructs historical memory through lieux de mémoire and explores trauma representation in film. Her publication trajectory reveals consistent engagement with theoretical innovation, evolving from modernist cinema analysis to contemporary applications of film philosophy in digital archiving and affective studies. The interdisciplinary nature of her work connects film theory with media archaeology and cultural memory studies.
