Assistant Professor
Dr. Kristina Aenlle serves as Assistant Professor and Director of the INIM Clinical Lab at the Institute for Neuro-Immune Medicine, Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine, Nova Southeastern University. Her research program investigates molecular mechanisms of aging and neuroinflammatory illnesses, with primary focus on Gulf War Illness (GWI) and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS). Dr. Aenlle's work centers on HPA/HPG axis disruption in GWI and ME/CFS, aiming to develop treatments that reboot this critical hormonal system while supporting healthy aging processes. Her expertise in endocrinology, neuroscience, and biochemistry enables multidisciplinary investigation of molecular and endocrine disruptions through clinical studies, biomarker analysis, and mechanistic research. She emphasizes sex-specific differences and aging interactions in disease progression. Analysis of her publication record reveals consistent contributions to neuroimmune research, with recent work highlighting biomarker discovery, neuroimaging correlates, and sex-specific treatment responses in GWI/ME/CFS. Her studies frequently involve multi-site veteran cohorts and emphasize translational applications, particularly in developing targeted therapies for hormonal axis dysfunction. Dr. Aenlle leads multiple Department of Defense-funded projects including a Phase III CoQ10 trial for GWI and research on immune priming mechanisms in veterans. As lab director, she oversees clinical operations and a research team focused on advancing diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for neuroinflammatory conditions through rigorous translational science.
