Andrew Grimshaw is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Virginia's School of Engineering and Applied Science. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1988. His career has focused on advancing distributed computing, grid systems, and high-performance computing. Grimshaw is best known for designing the Legion system, a foundational grid operating system, and co-founding Avaki Corporation (acquired by Sybase), which commercialized grid technologies.
