Rüdiger Haas is Professor for Space Geodesy at the Department of Space Geodesy and Geodynamics at Chalmers University of Technology. He leads geodetic VLBI activities at the Onsala Space Observatory, focusing on Earth rotation, global reference frames, atmospheric water vapour, and sea level measurements. He serves as Scientific Leader of the Onsala Twin Telescope Project, Chair of the European VLBI Group for Geodesy and Astrometry (EVGA), and board member of the International VLBI Service for Geodesy and Astrometry (IVS). His research explores: Advanced VLBI techniques for geodetic precision Global reference frame establishment and stability analysis Tropospheric modeling using co-located instrumentation GNSS reflectometry for sea-level monitoring Satellite geodesy for Earth observation Radio telescope performance and calibration methodologies Recent publications (2023-2025) predominantly advance VLBI technology through VGOS (VLBI Global Observing System), with innovations in tropospheric error modeling, telescope metrology, satellite geodesy applications, and sea-level monitoring techniques using GNSS reflectometry. Over 85% of his recent work involves VLBI optimization or GNSS-R applications.
