Dr. Carrie Langstraat is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and a fellowship-trained Gynecologic Oncologist specializing in the surgical treatment of patients with gynecologic cancers or increased cancer risk. She serves as the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship director at Mayo Clinic in Rochester and is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology. Her clinical expertise encompasses comprehensive gynecologic cancer care including treatment of ovarian, fallopian tube, primary peritoneal, uterine, cervical, vaginal, and vulvar cancers. She specializes in complex surgical procedures for gynecologic malignancies, fertility preservation, cancer risk reduction in BRCA carriers and Lynch syndrome patients, and surgical management of extensive endometriosis as part of a multidisciplinary team. Dr. Langstraat's research focuses on optimizing surgical outcomes in ovarian cancer treatment and applying artificial intelligence to better characterize ovarian masses. Her recent publications (2021-2025) demonstrate expertise in gynecologic oncology, surgical techniques, AI applications in diagnostics, and quality of life outcomes following complex cancer treatments. Her work spans clinical trials, surgical innovation, and translational research with significant contributions to understanding endometrial cancer management and vulvar/vaginal melanoma outcomes.
