Professor Aleksandra Filipovska is a NHMRC Investigator and Louis Landau Chair in Child Health Research at The University of Western Australia (UWA) and the Telethon Kids Institute. She holds a Deputy Director role at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Synthetic Biology. Her research focuses on RNA biology, mitochondrial diseases, and developing treatments for metabolic and cardiovascular conditions. Filipovska earned her PhD from the University of Otago and held a fellowship at the MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit in Cambridge. Her work spans RNA-binding protein regulation, multi-omic technologies, and protein synthesis in disease models. Key affiliations include the UWA Medical School and the ARC Synthetic Biology Centre. She has received awards such as the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences Fellowship. Research highlights include studies on mitochondrial folate cycles, protein synthesis mechanisms, and base editing advancements. Her grants include projects on pediatric metabolic therapies and mitochondrial diagnostics.
