Ingrid Harvold Kvangraven is a Senior Lecturer in International Development at King’s College London, based in the Department of International Development within the School of Global Affairs. She holds a PhD in Economics from The New School (2018) and previously served as a Lecturer at the University of York. Her research focuses on decolonizing economics, international financial subordination, and uneven development, particularly in African political economies. She is a co-author of Decolonising Economics: An Introduction (2025) and founder of the blog Developing Economics . Her work critically examines Eurocentric economic theories, global financial hierarchies, and the structural power dynamics affecting the Global South. She advocates for Southern-centric theorization in development studies and has contributed to initiatives like D-Econ (Diversifying and Decolonising Economics) and the Association for Heterodox Economics. She teaches courses such as Decolonising Economics and supervises PhD students in related areas. Her research groups include the Contemporary Marxism Research Group, Global Capitalism Studies Collective, and Climate, Environment and Uneven Development Research Group. She has published extensively in journals like Review of International Political Economy , Development and Change , and Economic and Political Weekly , focusing on topics ranging from dependency theory to financial subordination in Africa.
