Associate Professor
Albert Danso is an Associate Professor at De Montfort University’s Leicester Castle Business School, within the School of Accounting, Finance & Economics. He leads the Finance Subject Group and is actively involved in research, teaching, and editorial roles. He holds a PhD from York Management School and has previously taught at Richmond (The American University in London) and Leeds Beckett University. His educational qualifications include a PhD in Accounting and Finance (York), MSc in Finance with Merit (Leeds), BA with First Class Honours (University of Ghana), and PGCLTHE from DMU. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Dr. Danso’s research spans corporate finance, corporate governance, fintech, credit markets, and corporate sustainability. His work emphasizes stakeholder engagement, ESG performance, and SME financing, particularly in emerging markets. He has published extensively in top journals such as International Review of Financial Analysis , Journal of Business Research , and Business Strategy and the Environment . His recent publications (2022–2025) focus on geopolitical risk and ESG, CEO overconfidence, pandemic impacts on corporate finance, sustainability in SMEs, and Africa-to-Africa foreign investment. These works reflect a strong trend toward behavioral finance, sustainability, and emerging market dynamics. He has also guest-edited special issues on digital technologies and sustainability. He supervises PhD students including Ahmed Dabour, Annah Buseri, and Thywill Gbekle. His research is supported by extensive conference participation and collaborations across Africa, the UK, and Asia. He is also engaged in community service through Graceway Aid and The Church of Pentecost.
