Senior Lecturer
Dr. Lisa Kelly is a Senior Lecturer in Theatre, Film & Television Studies at the University of Glasgow. Her work focuses on television production, media industry frameworks, and gender representation in creative fields. She holds a BA from Glasgow Caledonian University and advanced degrees (MPhil/PhD) in Screen and Television Studies from the University of Glasgow. Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communication & Mass Media Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Screen Studies Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Television Studies Research interests include global entertainment formats, screen talent development, and media policy. Notable projects include studies on the UK Film Council and gender dynamics in media industries. She has received grants for investigating Scotland’s screen industries and creative labor practices. Key publications include The Rise and Fall of the UK Film Council (2015) and The Television Entrepreneurs (2012). Current research explores gender equity in onscreen and behind-the-scenes roles. Principal Investigator: Outlander Content Tourism (2016-2017) RSE Research Workshops Grant (2013-2014) Supervises PhD students in television studies, labor practices, and media policy. Teaches courses ranging from foundational film history to advanced television genre analysis. Active in professional roles: Board Member at GMAC Film and co-founder of the EDI Lab.
