Professor
Konstantina Kottaridis is a Professor at the Department of Economics within the School of Economics, Business and International Studies at the University of Piraeus. She also serves as faculty member at Hellenic Open University since 2013 and Open University of Cyprus since 2021. Her educational background includes an Undergraduate Degree from the Department of Economics of the Athens University of Economics and Business, a Master's Degree (MSc.) in Economics from Iowa State University (USA) with a minor from the Department of Statistics, and a Doctorate (PhD) from the Department of International European and Economic Studies of the Athens University of Economics and Business. Professor Kottaridis' research focuses on Economic Development and Growth, Foreign Direct Investment and Multinational Corporations with emphasis on technology, innovation and sustainability, Sustainable Development and Circular Economy, and Small and Medium Enterprises internationalization. Her work bridges theoretical economic principles with practical applications in sustainable business practices and international economic policy. Her publication record shows consistent scholarly output over the past two decades, with recent work focusing on the regulatory aspects of foreign investment, human capital effects on inward FDI, taxation policy failures, and the evolving bioeconomy in Greece. Her research demonstrates a strong connection between international business practices and sustainable economic development. Professor Kottaridis has held significant leadership roles including Director of the Postgraduate Program in Bioeconomy, Circular Economy and Sustainable Development, Director of the Laboratory of Bioeconomy, Circular Economy and Sustainable Development, and Executive Director of the Athenian Policy Forum. She previously served as Greece's representative on the Board of Directors of the European International Business Academy and currently serves as a special advisor to the Crisis Observatory of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP). She actively supervises doctoral research, currently overseeing five doctoral theses as a committee member, and has participated in numerous international conferences both as presenter and organizer. Her teaching portfolio spans undergraduate courses in Microeconomics, Sustainable Entrepreneurship, and Monetary Theory, as well as multiple postgraduate programs focusing on Innovation, Sustainable Development, and Business Management in biotechnology and healthcare sectors.
