Dr. Karen Maher is a Chartered Psychologist and Lecturer at Aston Business School , part of the College of Business and Social Sciences at Aston University. Her work focuses on Occupational Health and Work Wellbeing, with a PhD in Work Psychology from Loughborough University (2018), examining employee wellbeing and shift work in the Fire and Rescue Service. Prior to academia, she worked as a Health, Fitness, and Wellbeing practitioner, specializing in exercise referral and weight management. Research Interests: Karen’s research explores healthy workplaces, behavior change interventions to improve worker safety and health, maladaptive coping techniques (e.g., substance use), and adherence to workplace safety policies. Her recent projects include studies on staff wellbeing in pediatric critical care and problematic substance use in midwives.
