Senior Lecturer
Dr. Natasha Bhatia serves as Assistant Dean (Academic) in the College of Science and Senior Lecturer at the Asian School of the Environment, Nanyang Technological University (NTU). She specializes in marine ecology and socio-economics, focusing on the interplay between human activities and coastal ecosystems. Her research emphasizes ecosystem services valuation, coastal management, and socio-economic frameworks for sustainable development. Dr. Bhatia holds a first-class honors degree in Marine and Freshwater Biology from the University of Hull and a PhD in environmental economics. Her professional experience includes roles at the Institute of Estuarine and Coastal Studies, where she collaborated with governmental and private sectors on conservation assessments, marine protected areas, and coastal hazard management. She actively engages in science communication, previously chairing Cafe Scientifique and promoting women in science through Soapbox Science initiatives in Hull. Research interests span blue carbon dynamics, urban coastal resilience, public perception of eco-engineering, and interdisciplinary approaches to ecosystem management. Her work bridges natural and social sciences to address global environmental challenges.
