Assistant Professor
Xiaojing Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at the School of Life Sciences, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), where she has worked since 2020. She received her BSc from Shandong University (2001-2005) and PhD at the Institute of Neuroscience, Chinese Academy of Sciences (2007-2014). From 2014 to 2019, she conducted postdoctoral research on episodic memory and spatial navigation at Johns Hopkins University under Professor James Knierim. Educational Background BSc in Science, Shandong University (2001-2005) PhD in Neuroscience, Chinese Academy of Sciences (2007-2014) Research Interests Dr. Chen investigates the physiological and pathological mechanisms of learning and memory, focusing on the hippocampus and related brain regions. Her lab explores how spatial navigation circuits develop under experiential influences and how these circuits change in pathological conditions. Key sub-areas include hippocampal circuit development, cognitive mapping, memory disorders, and spatial navigation dynamics. Laboratory Information The Chen Lab at SUSTech offers positions for postdocs, research assistants, and graduate students across interdisciplinary fields including biology, neuroscience, bioinformatics, and engineering.
