Assistant Professor
Deger Ozkaramanli is an Assistant Professor in Design Ethics at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, Delft University of Technology. Her work focuses on dilemmas as a multidisciplinary concept, particularly through her Dilemma-Driven Design method. She examines ethical questions and moral dilemmas in transdisciplinary design contexts, emphasizing the intersection of design with societal and cultural critique. She teaches Social Design and leads the Design Research Society’s Special Interest Group on Design Ethics, collaborating internationally with interdisciplinary teams. Her research explores ethical dimensions of design methods, including existential ethics, responsible innovation, and the role of design in addressing societal challenges. She is involved in the Delft Institute of Positive Design and has authored/co-authored over 30 publications since 2010, spanning topics like moral engagement in design, smart city controversies, and wellbeing-focused design. Media engagement includes articles on dilemma-driven approaches to meaningful product experiences.
