Ulrich Glogowsky is a Professor at the Department of Economics within the Kurt Rothschild School of Economics and Statistics at Johannes Kepler University Linz. His office is located in the Kepler Building on the 1st floor (Room K102A) and he can be reached at ulrich.glogowsky@jku.at. His research focuses on Public Economics, Behavioral and Experimental Economics, Policy Evaluation, and Applied Econometrics. Glogowsky's work examines how individuals behave in economic contexts, particularly regarding honesty, taxation, labor market dynamics, and policy interventions. His research employs both experimental methods and empirical analysis of real-world data. Professor Glogowsky's recent publications explore topics such as truth-telling in laboratory settings, the effectiveness of honesty oaths, competition and moral behavior through meta-analysis, the impact of firing costs on present-biased employees, and behavioral responses to inheritance and gift taxation. His work demonstrates a consistent focus on understanding human behavior within economic frameworks and evaluating policy implications. He is actively involved in teaching, currently supervising multiple Bachelor thesis groups and teaching courses including 'Market Economy and Government Activities' and 'Advanced Topics in Public, Health, and Environmental Economics' for the 2025 winter semester. Professor Glogowsky is also leading a research project titled 'The digital transformation of journalism: polarization, discrimination and incentives in online media' (2023-2026), demonstrating his engagement with contemporary issues in media economics and digital transformation.
