Darian Meacham is a Full Professor of Practical Philosophy and Chair of the Department of Philosophy at Maastricht University's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. He holds a BA from McGill University and MA/PhD from the University of Leuven. As Principal Investigator at the BISS Institute, his research examines how technological developments reshape political concepts like sovereignty, solidarity, and citizenship, with a focus on the EU's role in techno-political co-production. His work merges phenomenological methods with analyses of global technology impacts. Key research projects include GuestXR, STRONG-AYA, and the Circular City Challenge. Recent publications explore AI ethics, synthetic data governance, climate crisis ethics, and algorithmic disruption of labor solidarity. He co-edits the Journal of the British Society for Phenomenology and contributes to EU Horizon initiatives on responsible innovation. His ethical frameworks address challenges in financial AI, virtual environments, and synthetic biology. Dr. Meacham's interdisciplinary approach bridges philosophy with policy, emphasizing ethical reflection in emerging technologies.
