Assistant Professor
Prof. Dijana Mihajlović is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Banja Luka. She holds a dual affiliation with the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, contributing to interdisciplinary research. Her work focuses on environmental chemistry, plant physiology, and nanotechnology applications in pollution remediation. She has co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles and led/co-led multiple national and international research projects. Education: PhD in Chemistry (unspecified dates). Affiliations: Faculty of Agriculture & Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (University of Banja Luka). Her research explores heavy metal dynamics in agricultural soils, phytoremediation strategies, and nanomaterial development for environmental applications. Notable studies include investigating heavy metal uptake in Balkan endemic plants and developing antimicrobial silver nanoparticle composites. Active in projects like 'Ecological Security of Urban Zones' (2024-2025) and 'Plant Metal Metabolism' (COST Action 19116), she addresses environmental contamination through innovative methodologies. She has collaborated on EU-funded initiatives like the 'Balkan Waste-to-Product' project (2017-2019). Her lab focuses on interdisciplinary approaches combining analytical chemistry, plant biology, and materials science to solve ecological and agricultural challenges.
