Shults Svitlana Leonidivna is a Doctor of Economic Sciences and Professor who currently serves as Head of the Department of Regional Economic Policy at the Institute of Regional Studies named after M. I. Dolishnyi NAS of Ukraine. Born in Potsdam, Germany on May 1, 1965, she has built an extensive career in regional economics and policy spanning over 25 years. Dr. Shults received her education at Ivan Franko State University of Lviv (1988, Faculty of Geography), completed postgraduate studies at the Institute of Regional Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1997), and earned her doctorate from the same institution (2006). She progressed through academic ranks from junior researcher (1997) to department head (2013), and was awarded the title of Professor in 2015. Her research focuses on methodological foundations of regional economic systems, development of regional markets, theoretical and applied aspects of regional economic policy, mechanisms for regional development management, and analysis of regional economic potential. Her work has been particularly relevant in the context of Ukraine's European integration, decentralization reforms, and regional development strategies during wartime. Dr. Shults has published over 300 scientific works, including 20 monographs and 3 educational-methodological books, with 17 international publications. Her recent research examines Ukraine's regional development challenges during wartime, smart specialization of regions, and the implementation of decentralization reforms.
