Professor Bobby Acharya is a leading academic in Theoretical Particle Physics & Cosmology at King’s College London, affiliated with the Physics Department within the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences. He holds a PhD in String Theory from Queen Mary & Westfield College, University of London (1998), followed by a research fellowship there (1997–2000). He has held postdoctoral roles at Rutgers University and the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste. His research focuses on high-energy physics experiments at the CERN LHC (ATLAS collaboration), string/M-theory phenomenology, and cosmology. Key contributions include studies of magnetic monopoles via the MoEDAL experiment, Higgs boson properties, and supersymmetry. Notable awards include the 2018 Lawrence Bragg Gold Medal from the Institute of Physics. He has led major projects like 'Pathways between Fundamental Physics and Phenomenology' and 'Probing string theory hidden sectors with gravity waves and axions.' His work spans over 500 publications, with recent highlights in Physical Review Letters and Nature . Grants include STFC funding for LHC-related research and Simons Foundation support for geometric physics. He collaborates internationally, particularly in Europe, on topics like Standard Model tests and beyond. His lab affiliations include the Theoretical Particle Physics & Cosmology group at King’s, actively promoting physics outreach in Africa and globally.
