Serdar Abaci is a Lecturer in Data and Digital Literacies at the University of Edinburgh's Moray House School of Education and Sport, affiliated with the Institute for Education, Teaching & Leadership (IETL) and the Centre for Research in Digital Education. He leads the Data Education in Schools project, focusing on developing digital literacy courses. His research emphasizes educational technology evaluation, formative assessment, and online learning strategies. Previously, he held postdoctoral roles at Indiana University and Newcastle University, studying e-textbook adoption and instructor-student dynamics. His work highlights the importance of teacher training and student-centered approaches. Recent studies include analyzing hybrid learning models and feedback mechanisms in UK higher education. His articles explore themes like crisis adaptation in higher education leadership, data literacy curriculum design, and student experiences during emergency online teaching. He coordinates dissertation support for postgraduate students and collaborates on projects like Informatics Connect , which supports first-year students during disruptions. Member of MHSES Ethics Committee BERA College of Reviewers Co-convener of the SERA Digital Education Network Abaci advises five PhD students researching topics such as computational thinking's social impact, AR integration in language learning, and data literacy training for preservice teachers. His work bridges educational policy, technological innovation, and equitable learning opportunities.
