Professor Sarah Bohndiek is a Professor of Biomedical Physics at the University of Cambridge, jointly appointed in the Department of Physics and the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute. She leads the VISIONLab, focusing on developing novel imaging biomarkers for tumor evolution and clinical translation of photoacoustic/endoscopic technologies. PhD in Radiation Physics (UCL, 2008) Postdoctoral Fellowships at Cambridge and Stanford Established VISIONLab in 2013 with CRUK funding Research Themes: The lab develops low-cost optical/photonics technologies for tumor vascular biology studies, combining endoscopic imaging and photoacoustic techniques to interrogate cancer metabolism and the tumor microenvironment. Key applications include early cancer detection, therapy response monitoring, and creating tissue-mimicking phantoms for imaging validation. Awards: CRUK Future Leaders in Cancer Research Prize SPIE Early Career Achievement Award MSCA Award for Nurturing Research Talent Teaching & Leadership: Sarah serves as Director of Studies in Natural Sciences (Physical) and Tutor at Corpus Christi College. She actively mentors scientists and delivers career development workshops, emphasizing interdisciplinary research training and public engagement.
