Sabin Zahirovic is a Research Fellow and DECRA Fellow at the School of Geosciences, The University of Sydney, specializing in plate tectonics, geodynamics, and the deep carbon cycle. He completed his PhD in 2015, focusing on Post-Pangea global plate kinematics and Southeast Asian geodynamics. His roles include leading the New Guinea research stream in the Basin Genesis Hub project and serving on committees such as the Deep Carbon Observatory's Executive Committee and the Paleogeography Working Group of the IUGS Deep-time Digital Earth initiative. Zahirovic's research emphasizes the interplay between tectonics, mantle dynamics, and carbon cycling, with a focus on Southeast Asia, Tethys, and New Guinea.
