Dr. Ahmad Eltaweel is a faculty member at Edinburgh Napier University's School of Computing Engineering and the Built Environment, specializing in architectural engineering and building technology. With over a decade of teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, he actively mentors PhD students and contributes to academic research in sustainable building design. His educational background includes a BSc in Architectural Engineering (2000-2005), an MSc in Architectural Design (2007-2011), and a PhD in Building Technology from the University of Nottingham (2015-2020). His doctoral research focused on developing a responsive daylighting louver system based on parametric design for energy saving, which demonstrated potential to save up to 90% of electrical lighting energy while maintaining visual comfort standards. Dr. Eltaweel's research centers on parametric design applications for optimizing building performance, with particular emphasis on daylighting analysis, thermal comfort, and energy efficiency. His expertise spans 3D modeling and environmental simulation using advanced software including Rhino/Grasshopper, EnergyPlus, Radiance, and DAYSIM.
