Jeffrey J. Harden is the Andrew J. McKenna Family College Professor in the Department of Political Science and Concurrent Professor in the Department of Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Notre Dame. He is also a Faculty Affiliate of the Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society. His research focuses on American politics, including legislative institutions, political representation, public policy diffusion, and state politics, alongside methodological work on network inference and statistical analysis communication. Dr. Harden co-directs the Representation and Politics in Legislatures Lab and serves as co-editor of Legislative Studies Quarterly and Cambridge Studies in American Legislatures . His recent work explores topics such as policy diffusion during crises, legislative behavior under pandemic conditions, and the impact of social media on political communication. His research emphasizes quantitative methodologies, including R package development for statistical modeling (e.g., coxed and modeLLtest ).
