Kristjan Kikerpill is a Lecturer in Information Law and Digital Sociology at the University of Tartu's Faculty of Social Sciences, Institute of Social Studies (since 2022). Previously, he served as a Consultant of Information Law (2021–2022). He holds a Doctor’s Degree in Cyber Criminology from the University of Tartu (2022), focusing on social engineering attacks and communication-based crime analysis. Education includes a MA in Law (Information Technology Law) and BA in Social Sciences & Law from the University of Tartu, alongside studies at Miina Härma Gymnasium. His research bridges cyber criminology, digital sociology, and information law, with a focus on online deception, AI ethics, and media discourse analysis. Key research interests include cybercrime communication dynamics, AI in education, pandemic-era fraud, and deepfake technologies. He supervises master’s theses on topics ranging from health data tracking to cybersecurity behavior in older adults. His work appears in journals like Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Critical Criminology , with recent publications addressing ChatGPT’s societal impact and vaccine certificate fraud. Publications (2023–2024) emphasize contextual factors in online deception, AI’s dual-edged role in education, and media framing of cyber threats. He collaborates on interdisciplinary projects, such as analyzing Estonian cybercrime case law and Reddit’s content moderation strategies. His work underscores the intersection of technology, law, and societal vulnerability.
