Travis Curtright, Ph.D., is a Professor of Humanities and Literature at Ave Maria University, serving as Chair of the Department of Humanities and Liberal Studies and Director of Shakespeare in Performance. He holds a Ph.D. in Literature from the University of Dallas and has professional training in acting and directing. His work bridges scholarship and performance, emphasizing early modern literature, particularly Shakespeare and Thomas More studies. Education: B.A. in Philosophy (University of Dallas), M.A. and Ph.D. in Literature (University of Dallas). Research focuses on Renaissance political thought, Shakespearean drama, and Thomas More’s legacy. He authored The One Thomas More and The Controversial Thomas More , and edits Moreana: Thomas More and Renaissance Studies . His scholarship challenges modern interpretations of More’s unity as a statesman, humanist, and martyr. Recent publications explore More’s prison writings, Shakespeare’s character development, and early modern literary techniques. Awards include recognition as an award-winning teacher and fellow at the Center for Thomas More Studies. He leads the Shakespeare in Performance program, training students in classical performance techniques.
