Clinical Professor
Benny Dahl serves as a Clinical Professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. His clinical practice at the Orthopaedic Surgery division focuses on advanced spine surgery techniques for complex spinal conditions, with direct patient care conducted at Blegdamsvej 3, 2200 København N. His research program centers on surgical interventions for oncological spinal pathologies and deformities across pediatric and adult populations, with particular emphasis on idiopathic scoliosis. As a key member of an international genetics research consortium, he investigates molecular mechanisms underlying spinal deformities. Clinically, he pioneers osteotomy techniques and peri-operative navigation systems while conducting translational studies on multimodal pain management protocols to optimize surgical recovery. Recent publications (2024-2025) reveal dominant research vectors including long-term pulmonary outcomes in scoliosis patients, machine learning applications for spinal biomechanics analysis, and innovative fusion strategies for adult deformity correction. These works demonstrate methodological diversity spanning clinical trials, biomechanical modeling, and outcomes research, consistently addressing critical gaps in spinal deformity management and surgical safety. Dr. Dahl actively collaborates through an international research network dedicated to elucidating genetic factors in idiopathic scoliosis, facilitating multinational data sharing and standardized outcome measurement across 15 partner institutions in Europe and North America.
