Associate Professor
Akitoshi Kawamura is an Associate Professor at the Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences (RIMS), Kyoto University. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto in June 2011. Education: Ph.D. in Computer Science, University of Toronto (2011) His research focuses on algorithms and computation theory, with key areas including: Computational Complexity : Exploring computability in analysis, randomness, and learning theory. Algorithm Design and Analysis : Specializing in scheduling, network algorithms, and algebraic algorithms. Computational Geometry : Investigating extremal problems, graph searching, and packing/covering. Dr. Kawamura has actively contributed to academic events such as organizing the Twenty-Second International Conference on Computability and Complexity in Analysis (CCA) 2025 as Co-Chair, serving on program committees for ESA 2025 and ALC 2025, and organizing workshops like CCC 2023. He also leads seminars (e.g., Open Problem Seminar , Mathematical Physics Summer School ) and participates in committees for societies including the Japan Society for Graphic Science and IEICE.
