Assistant Professor
Jeffrey Wammes is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Queen's University, affiliated with the Centre for Neuroscience Studies. His research focuses on how learning and experience reshape memory representation, combining behavioral experiments, computational tools, and neuroimaging. He holds a B.A. from Western University, M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo, and postdoctoral training at Yale University. His work explores mind-wandering impacts on learning, active learning techniques like drawing, and neural mechanisms of memory encoding. Education: B.A., University of Western Ontario (2011) M.A., University of Waterloo (2014) Ph.D., University of Waterloo (2017) Postdoctoral Fellow, Yale University (2020) Research interests include: Behavioral neuroscience of learning and memory Ecological statistical models Cognitive aging and memory preservation Educational interventions targeting attention and engagement His lab investigates real-world applications of cognitive science, such as reducing mind-wandering in classrooms and enhancing memory through drawing. Cross-disciplinary collaborations span neuroscience, education, and computer science.
