John Bradley Marston is a Professor in the Department of Physics at Brown University. He joined Brown in 1991 and is affiliated with the Brown Theoretical Physics Center. His research spans quantum matter, planetary atmospheres, and fluid dynamics, with a focus on non-equilibrium statistical physics. Education: PhD (1989), MA (1986), BS (1984) Institutions: Caltech (undergraduate), Princeton (PhD), Cornell (postdoc), and visiting roles at UC Santa Barbara, MIT, Caltech, and ENS-Lyon Marston’s research addresses climate modeling , condensed matter theory , and strongly correlated systems . He explores turbulent flows, quantum spin liquids, and environmental physics, linking these to outstanding scientific questions about superconductivity, water structure, and climate change. Recent publications focus on cumulant expansions for atmospheric dynamics, fluid turbulence , and quantum transport in nanostructures.
