Suresh G. Advani holds the Unidel Pierre S. du Pont Chair of Engineering at the University of Delaware. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a BTech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay. His research focuses on rheology, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and composite processing, with applications to clean energy and advanced materials. He has authored over 350 journal papers, developed the Liquid Mold Filling Software (LIMS), and chairs the 2025 International Conference on Composite Materials. His honors include the American Society of Composites' Outstanding Researcher Award (2015) and the Society of Plastic Engineers' Educator of the Year award. Advani's expertise spans fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and materials engineering. His work addresses challenges in composite manufacturing, fuel cells, and hydrogen storage. He leads initiatives in energy-efficient manufacturing and sustainable composites, leveraging computational models and experimental validation. Notable projects include optimizing pyrolysis processes for carbon-carbon composites and enhancing PEM fuel cell membrane durability through novel chemical additives. His contributions to composite processing include advancing resin transfer molding (RTM) simulations, co-cure processes for honeycomb sandwich structures, and additive manufacturing techniques. He collaborates internationally, co-editing journals like Composites Part A and advising on industrial applications. His research bridges theoretical models with practical manufacturing solutions, emphasizing innovation in materials and energy systems.
