Paul Lant is a Professor at the School of Chemical Engineering, University of Queensland. He served as Head of School (2009-2013), leading major teaching and research initiatives. His career includes founding Wastewater Futures Pty Ltd (20-year directorship) and extensive industry consultation, including expert witness roles. He co-founded the UQ Energy and Poverty Research Group (2014) and UQ R!SK (2015), focusing on hazardous industry risk management. Research interests span biodegradable plastics (17+ years leading UQ's PHA group), urban water-energy systems, and sustainable energy solutions for impoverished communities. His work integrates engineering with social science, policy, and business perspectives to address global sustainability challenges.
