Senior Lecturer
Dr Sue Monaro is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Susan Wakil School of Nursing & Midwifery, University of Sydney. She holds dual roles as an advanced practice nurse in vascular surgery and clinical governance facilitator for skin integrity at the Northern Sydney Local Health District. Her research focuses on vascular nursing, wound prevention/management, and geriatric care for older patients with cardiovascular conditions. Research & Leadership: Principal investigator for the Skin & Wound Integrated Model of Care (SWIM) study Co-investigator in hospital-acquired pressure injury research, Endoanchor Device Registry, and GeriCO-V geriatric-vascular care model Member of the NSW Pressure Injury Policy Group and international vascular nursing research groups Teaching & Practice: Clinical practice assessor for nursing students Delivers tutorials on chronic/complex care using simulation laboratories Expertise in vascular nursing, wound management, and geriatric nursing Awards & Recognition: ANZSVN Vascular Nurse of the Year (2009, 2019) Best Research Paper Awards at multiple national/international conferences Grants & Collaborations: Leads state-wide collaborative research projects Partners with Australian Health Research Alliance for integrated wound care initiatives Contributes to policy development for pressure injury prevention Labs & Teams: SWIM Model of Care implementation team Vascular-Geriatric Comanagement Taskforce
