He serves as an Honorary Research Associate of the Cambridge Group for the History of Population and Social Structure and is a member of the Centre for Science and Policy (CSaP), focusing on bridging historical research with contemporary policy challenges. His work consistently connects British historical experiences with international contexts, especially Africa. Notable awards include: American Public Health Association's Viseltear Prize (2009) IPPR Economics Prize (2019) for co-authoring "Incentivising an ethical economics" Szreter has supervised numerous PhD students on diverse topics in modern social and demographic history. As co-founder of History&Policy (2002), he led this initiative until its 2021 relocation to the Institute of Historical Research. His major research leadership includes the Wellcome Trust-funded "Generation to Reproduction" Strategic Award (2009-2015) and current membership in Cambridge's Reproduction Strategic Research Initiative. He actively directs History&Policy as principal Editor, maintaining its mission to connect historical scholarship with evidence-based policy-making through interdisciplinary collaboration.
