Dr. Michael Sherwin is an Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management at Duquesne University’s Palumbo-Donahue School of Business. Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering and Graduate Program Director at the University of Pittsburgh. His academic journey includes teaching and developing courses in supply chain management, operations, quality systems, and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies. Prior to academia, he spent 15+ years in industry roles across nuclear power, defense, metals, and aerospace sectors. Education: Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Mississippi State University M.B.A., Carnegie Mellon University M.S. in Industrial Engineering, Penn State University B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering, Penn State University Research focuses on applied decision analytics, reliability optimization, and risk mitigation in critical supply chains. He also explores Industry 4.0 applications in teaching methodologies. Professional credentials include ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt, Pennsylvania Professional Engineer licensure, and Certified Training Partner status with ASQ. He contributes to the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) and the Logistics and Supply Chain Division Board of Directors.
