Elisse Higginbotham serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Optometry and Vision Science within the School of Health and Clinical Sciences at the University of Western Australia. With decades of clinical experience primarily in paediatric optometry, she delivers care for the Refugee Clinic in collaboration with Lions Inreach Clinic and provides specialized services at the Eye Health Centre of WA. Her academic qualifications include: Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics, Deakin University (2021) Master of Optometry, University of New South Wales (2008) Postgraduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics, University of Melbourne (2005-2006) Her research focuses on paediatric vision assessment, myopia management, and accommodation/convergence vision therapy, emphasizing evidence-based patient-centered care. She actively contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through health and education initiatives while integrating clinical practice with teaching theory. As an investigator for the 2024 Channel 7 Telethon Trust-funded project "Peripheral vision testing in childhood eye/brain disorders", she collaborates with multidisciplinary researchers. She co-chairs both a Paediatric Optometry Community of Practice and a Cross-Craft Binocular Vision Discussion Group to advance clinical education and practitioner collaboration.
