Senior Lecturer
Jingrong Tong is a Senior Lecturer in Media and Information Studies at the School of Information, Journalism and Communication , University of Sheffield. She has previously held positions at Brunel University (2016-19) and the University of Leicester (2009-16). Research Interests: Digital technology’s impact on journalism, social media analysis, environmental communication, and comparative studies of UK and Chinese media landscapes. Methodologically, she combines qualitative approaches (interviews, framing analysis, critical discourse analysis) with computational methods (social network analysis, computer-assisted discourse analysis). Books: Author of two monographs on Chinese investigative journalism and environmental communication; co-editor of works on digital technology and Brexit-related media analysis. Grants: Received research funding from the British Academy and universities. Teaching: Convenor for MA dissertation modules and teaches data-driven storytelling, broadcast journalism, and news analysis. Professional Activities: Collaborated with International Media Support , serves on editorial boards for Digital Journalism , Journalism Studies , and Chinese Journal of Communication as Associate Editor.
