Yannis Saratsis is a Laboratory Teaching Staff (EDIP) member with specialization in Regional Policy - Program Design and Evaluation at the Department of Spatial Planning, Urban Planning and Regional Development Engineering of the University of Thessaly. He collaborates extensively with the Center for Development of Southern and Eastern Europe, the Laboratory for Evaluation of Development Policies and Programs, and the Laboratory for Regional Economic Analysis and Policy of the University of Thessaly. Additionally, he is a member of the Register of Trainers at the National Center for Public Administration and Local Government, where he prepares and teaches in relevant seminars. PhD in Spatial Planning, Urban Planning and Regional Development, University of Thessaly (2009) Diploma in Urban Planning, Spatial Planning and Regional Development Engineering, University of Thessaly (1994) Dr. Saratsis' research focuses on the Spatial Dimension of Development, Local and Regional Development, Programme Design and Evaluation, European Policies, Spatial Governance, Tourism Development, Urban Development, and Sustainability. His work critically examines the implementation of European Cohesion Policy in Greece, regional development strategies, and the challenges of spatial planning in the Greek context. He has published extensively on regional inequalities, tourism development in Magnesia, and the application of place-based approaches to regional policy. His recent publications (2015-2019) demonstrate a strong focus on the implementation challenges of the 2014-2020 Cohesion Policy in Greece, place-based policies, urban development strategies, and regional planning. These works span disciplines including Regional Science, Urban Planning, European Policy Studies, and Spatial Analysis, with particular attention to Greek regional development challenges, territorial cohesion, and the practical application of European policy frameworks at the regional level. His practical experience spans strategic development plans for municipalities across Greece, including Volos, Larissa, Imathia, and many others, demonstrating his commitment to translating academic research into practical regional development solutions.

Efthymios Papataxiarchis is Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of the Aegean's Department of Social Anthropology and History, where he co-founded Greece's first anthropology department and served as its president/deputy president. He holds visiting professorships at the Universities of Athens, Crete, École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, and Boğaziçi Üniversitesi. As director of the Ethnography Laboratory and International Graduate School 'Cultures, Migrations, Borders', he oversees research infrastructure and advanced training programs. His research spans: Ethnography of Greece and the Mediterranean Political anthropology and border studies Migration/refugee crisis impacts Historical anthropology of Western Anatolia Gender and sociality Cultural management of difference Recent publications focus on spatial politics of borders, humanitarian urbanism in Athens, and ethnographic methodologies in crisis contexts. He has led major EU-funded projects (Horizon, ELIDEK) supporting doctoral/postdoctoral research. As a founding member of the European Association of Social Anthropologists, he promotes transnational scholarly exchange. Editorial responsibilities include directing Alexandria Publications' anthropology series and serving on boards of Contemporary Issues and Hellenic academic journals.
