Associate Professor
Dr. Lucy Potter is an Associate Professor at the University of Adelaide's School of Humanities, within the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law, and Economics. Her research focuses on Early Modern English drama, particularly Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe, exploring their engagement with classical tragedy and Virgil's Aeneid . She teaches courses on Shakespeare, tragedy, and literary imitation. Her work also extends to professional/business writing consultancy and ESL education. Dr. Potter has received significant recognition, including the Calvin and Rose G Hoffman Prize twice (2017, 2022) for her scholarship on Marlowe, making her one of only three Australian scholars to win this award. Her teaching excellence is highlighted by awards such as the Vice Chancellor's Award and the OLT Citation Equivalent. Her recent book Shakespeare for Everyone aims to make Shakespeare's emotional worlds accessible to general readers.
