Jean Peduzzi-Nelson is an Associate Professor and Director of Medical Neuroscience at Wayne State University's School of Medicine. Her research focuses on developing innovative treatments for chronic spinal cord injuries (SCI) and traumatic brain injuries, emphasizing neural regeneration, stem cell therapies, and rehabilitation protocols. She collaborates with neurosurgeons and bioengineers on preclinical studies involving artificial spinal cord grafts and clinical trials examining exercise-induced cognitive recovery in brain injury patients. Her work spans neuroimmunology, biomaterials, and translational medicine, with publications exploring olfactory mucosa autografts, poliovirus-based gene therapies, and enriched environmental interventions. She has received teaching awards from Wayne State University (WSU) and the School of Medicine (SOM) and has testified before US Senate committees on neuroscience research.
