Pankaj Lal is a Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Studies at Montclair State University and Founding Director of the Clean Energy and Sustainability Analytics Center. He holds a Ph.D. in Natural Resource Economics from the University of Florida and has expertise in energy and environmental policies, climate change, resource management, and interdisciplinary systems approaches. His research spans global landscapes in Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and North America, focusing on sustainable solutions for energy transitions, environmental conservation, and resilient development. His research includes bioenergy sustainability, flood mitigation strategies, and economic valuation of natural capital in Rwanda.
