Research Fellow
Dr. Tim Posselt serves as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the School of Business, Economics and Society, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), affiliated with the Chair of Information Systems I under Prof. Dr. Möslein. His work focuses on organizational transformation through value co-creation in complex service systems, with emphasis on distributive and regenerative value creation across global enterprises. Posselt earned his doctorate in 2017 on 'Organizational Competence for Servitization' from FAU's WI1 Innovation and Value Creation group. Prior to this, he spent seven years (2011-2018) as research assistant and group manager at Nuremberg's Fraunhofer Center for Applied Research on Supply Chain Services, building foundational expertise in industrial service systems. His research interrogates critical questions in service ecosystems: How do stakeholders define value? What system boundaries enable equitable value distribution? How can collaboration facilitate regenerative outcomes? This work bridges service science, digital innovation, and sustainable value creation, with particular focus on municipal innovation platforms and industrial servitization. Recent publications (2022-2024) reveal evolving trends toward urban applications of service ecosystems theory, especially in digital platforms for municipal climate action and power dynamics analysis. His industrial research continues exploring smart product-service systems and AI-driven innovation, demonstrating consistent integration of microfoundations with ecosystem-level analysis. As an independent researcher and consultant, Posselt facilitates organizational change across multinational enterprises. His Fraunhofer experience informs practical applications of service ecosystem theory in supply chain contexts, while current FAU affiliation supports theoretical advancement through rigorous publication in top-tier venues like the Journal of City Climate Policy and Economy.
