Leanne May is a Pharmacy Teaching Fellow at Kingston University , Faculty of Health, Science, Social Care and Education, Department of Pharmacy. With over 10 years of experience, she specializes in pharmacy practice education, digital technology in pharmacy training, and simulations for clinical diagnostics. She also works part-time as a community pharmacist at Boots and serves as a CPPE (Centre for Postgraduate Pharmacy Education) events tutor and return-to-practice tutor, supporting pharmacists and pharmacy technicians locally and internationally. Education : Bachelor of Pharmacy (University of Port Elizabeth, South Africa, 1996), Postgraduate Clinical Diploma in Pharmacy Practice (De Montfort University, 2004), Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2020). Her research focuses on pharmacy education innovations , including flipped classroom approaches, simulation-based teaching, and leveraging technology for student engagement. She has pioneered culturally competent teaching tools like a Canvas module addressing health inequalities through diverse skin condition representations. Her work emphasizes preparing students for prescribing roles and integrating digital platforms such as MyDispense during the pandemic. Recent publications highlight her contributions to pharmacy curricula design, simulation teaching for prescribing skills, and evaluating digital integration in pharmacy education. She actively shares expertise through training modules for the pharmacy magazine C+D and has facilitated workshops on cultural competence and health inequalities. Scientific Awards : Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), 2020. Leanne collaborates with institutions like the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) to enhance pharmacy education. Her leadership as MPharm course director (2019–2022) focused on hybrid teaching models during the pandemic, utilizing Teams, MyDispense, and video simulations.
