Professor
David Schriemer is a Professor at the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine (Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) and an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Science's Department of Chemistry. He holds roles as a Child Health & Wellness Researcher at the Owerko Centre and a Member of the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute and Robson DNA Science Centre. His academic career includes positions as a Canada Research Chair and Senior Scholar of the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research. Education: B.S. Chemistry (University of Winnipeg, 1991), M.S. Chemistry (University of Manitoba, 1993), Ph.D. Chemistry (University of Alberta, 1997). Postdoctoral training in biochemistry preceded his faculty appointment in 2001. He co-founded INH Technologies Inc. and served as Research Director at MDS Proteomics Inc. Research focuses on integrative structural biology and clinical proteomics, emphasizing protein complex structures, proteome-wide disease markers, and advanced mass spectrometry technologies. Key projects include developing AI-driven computational models for mesoscale protein functions and translational efforts in clinical proteomics for neurological disorders and cancer immunotherapy targets. Awards include the Cochrane Distinguished Achievement Award (2011, 2009, 2003), Shultz Award (2017), and Peak Scholar distinction (2015). He directs the Structural Proteomics Laboratory and leads initiatives in precision oncology through the Terry Fox Research Institute. Current ventures include a scientific software development company and leadership roles at Nepetx LLC.
