Professor Venkat Kanamarlapudi is a faculty member in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Swansea University Medical School. He holds academic positions within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science. His research focuses on molecular cell biology and pharmacology, particularly studying GPCR signaling, inositol lipids, and small GTPases in health and disease. Key areas include developing targeted therapies for pancreatic cancer and improving ventricular assist devices (LVADs). Prof. Kanamarlapudi earned his BSc (Biology & Chemistry) from Acharya Nagarjuna University, MSc (Biochemistry) from the University of Hyderabad, MTech (Biotechnology) from IIT-Kharagpur, and PhD from the University of Sheffield. Before joining Swansea, he held roles at AstraZeneca (India), the University of Bristol, and was a BBSRC David Phillips Research Fellow. His research interests include molecular mechanisms of cell signaling, cancer biology, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and translational therapeutics. Notable achievements include election as a fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB), Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), and Learned Society of Wales (FLSW). He also holds a Doctor of Science (DSc) from Swansea University. Prof. Kanamarlapudi’s work spans drug discovery, cellular mechanisms of disease, and innovative diagnostic approaches. He collaborates widely, including studies on pancreatic cancer biomarkers, SARS-CoV-2 endothelial effects, and age-related pathologies. His lab contributes to advancing understanding of receptor signaling pathways and their clinical applications.
