Dr. Martin Antony is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University. He holds additional faculty appointments at McMaster University and the University of Toronto, and served as the founding director of the Anxiety Treatment and Research Clinic at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton. Dr. Antony was previously Graduate Program Director and Director of Clinical Training at Toronto Metropolitan University, and held leadership roles in professional organizations including the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and the Canadian Psychological Association. Education: PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York (1994) Leadership: Director of the Anxiety Research and Treatment Lab and former provincial clinical lead of the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program Dr. Antony is an internationally recognized expert in anxiety disorders, perfectionism, and cognitive-behavioural therapy. His research focuses on understanding and treating these conditions, with over $6 million in grants from CIHR, SSHRC, and other agencies. He has published 34 books and more than 300 peer-reviewed articles, establishing himself as a leading authority in evidence-based psychological treatments. His recent work explores anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic, fear of positive evaluation, and the intersection of technology use and mental health. Dr. Antony has received prestigious fellowships from the Royal Society of Canada, Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, and multiple psychological associations.
