Clasien de Schipper is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, holding dual affiliations with LEARN! - Child rearing and APH - Mental Health departments. Her research focuses on intellectual disability care, trauma exposure effects in families, and long-term care system improvements. She has supervised four PhD theses and contributed to over 100 research outputs. Her work addresses SDGs related to quality education and good health, with key topics including parental-child emotion dialogues, implementation strategies for care frameworks, and digital accessibility for disabled populations. Notable projects include developing multidisciplinary expertise teams to reduce involuntary care and consensus-building around digital social contact post-pandemic. Dr. de Schipper received the 2005 award for attachment classification reliability training and actively participates in academic activities such as conferences, editorial work, and thesis examinations. She contributed to the 'Digitaal op bezoek' project (2020-2022) addressing virtual visitation solutions for sheltered care residents.
