Senior Lecturer
Lara Rodriguez-Zamora is a Senior Lecturer at Örebro University, affiliated with the School of Health Sciences and the Department of Health Sciences. Her primary research focuses on apnea physiology, hypoxia effects, and aesthetic sports like synchronized swimming and freediving. She leads the Metabolism, Inflammation & Physical Activity (MIPA) research group and contributes to the Exercise Physiology and Sports Medicine (EPSM) group. Her work examines training load monitoring, neuromuscular adaptations, and physiological responses in high-performance athletes. Teaching responsibilities include exercise physiology, sports science, and performance testing. Current research projects investigate spleen and lung volumes in artistic swimming and hypoxia's impact on resistance training. Active collaborations span international teams, with publications in journals like European Journal of Applied Physiology and Frontiers in Physiology. Her research emphasizes practical applications for optimizing athletic performance and health outcomes through physiological insights. Key projects include studying lactate accumulation in competitive freediving and synchronized swimming, bioelectrical impedance analysis for hydration status, and the efficacy of mean propulsive velocity in resistance training load monitoring. Rodriguez-Zamora's interdisciplinary work bridges sports science, clinical physiology, and athletic performance optimization.
